Good reference materials

Very useful for implementing Common Core in Language Arts, including reading, listening, speaking and writing. Comprehension (both reading & listening) is essential for understanding academic material and engaging in academic conversations. Most textbooks don't develop comprehension skills sufficiently, and many teachers lack sufficient background in teaching reading. These materials can help teachers plug the holes and achieve the depth of comprehension necessary for students to succeed.

Practical and Easy to Implement in the Classroom

I love this Toolkit. The lessons are practical, easy to carry out in the classroom, and really do help students improve their comprehension. I like how the lessons are scripted, but are also presented in outline form. This allows me to either follow the lesson as written or modify it to use different texts. I tend to break each "maxi-lesson" into 2 or 3 mini-lessons, but otherwise the Toolkit can be followed exactly.

Powerful teacher tool

This is such a great mini lesson series that covers comprehension, inferring, questioning and more in fiction, non fiction, poetry genres, and more. This is the essence of what we want young readers to do as the read. They use very accessible books and texts. A must have for teaching the essentials fo reading.
